Feminism, a concept that has become widely popular and also gained a lot of hate.
Why is this so ¿
I like to think its because many do not understand the concept and have most likely encountered extremists of the belief system.
For the sake of clarity, I would like to explain what feminism is and what it is not.
It is not the slandering of men or spreading of hate against men.
I cannot help but notice that this has become a wide opinion of what feminism is. Feminism and Misandry are two entirely different concepts.
Feminism says a woman can do just fine with or without a man by her side. A female can stand tall in society without a man by her side .
A while back, a 14 year old boy was sexually assaulted and the news was disseminated all over social media. It was feminist who were the first to speak on the issue and acknowledge the fact that, yes a male child could be a victim of sexual assault.
Feminism is a concept which helps to empower the minds of young women.
It centres on allowing women the free will and opportunity to think and have ambitions just as men are giving that free will in society.
It is to speak to females and allow them to know their worth regardless of the box that society has put them in.
Some time ago, there was a court case in which a male sexually assaulted 4 young ladies. When the case was taken to court, the Judge response was after praying on the case, jail time will be inappropriate for the man.
This is exactly why we need feminism.
Take a walk in these girls shoes or their loved ones. See the pain, trauma and hurt that they will be going through.
I’m a proud feminist because I understand the goal of the belief system.
A lot of things have been so normalised and entrenched into our minds that we no longer see it as a wrong.
When I talk about my ambition or my love for travelling around the world. A lot of people stop me to ask,
” so what of your kids¿”
Funny how this question is never asked when males speak of their own dreams and ambitions.
Like two goals can be achieved as one.
Or the expectation that as a female, you should be able to cook and clean. Because this is what is seen as a desirable trait for a wife.
Completely disregarding traits like understanding, tolerance, self control and many more which actually sustains most homes.
My mom stopped cooking and cleaning a long while ago, so why hasn’t the home collapsed yet ¿
Then we also see the crazy standards of beauty that women are put through by society.
In times past, women have had to shave their hair back so they could have higher foreheads because this was the perceived beauty standard.
Women have also had to pluck their eyebrows or paint their cleavage because that was the perceived beauty standards.
And even now, in ‘modern times’ women are still subjected to this.
You have everyone telling you what they think you should do with your body. You were too much and you’re deemed unattractive, too little are you are a slut.
These days a female can’t be both pretty and intelligent. She has to fore go one. Its either the beauty or the brains.
You’re very pretty and you are seen as an air head in the eyes of society.
You listen to people on social media analyse sexual assualt cases and say things like ‘look at what she is wearing or she is asking for it in that outfit’.
So because of the outfit then the rape was justified. You having a motive for murder doesnt justify the fact that you took someone’s life. What then do we say in cases of 6 months old children who get violated.
Was it the diapers that was so alluring ¿
Or cases where a male is sexually assaulted you hear things like he must have probably enjoyed so it’s not assualt.
And it’s been so normalised that the female child is blamed for it all.
This and many more is why I stand with the believe system.
This is feminism from my view point.
I have so much more to say on this and I will in due time so stay tuned.
