Breathe, Live & Smile

Not too long ago, I read about this interesting tale of the Disney movie Alice In Wonderland.

I figured a lot of people haven’t read it so I decided to share it with you.

If you haven’t seen Alice in Wonderland, here is a quick summary for you.

Alice in Wonderland is about a girl, Alice who is bored and one day while she was outside she sees a white rabbit and follows him down a dark hole that transports her to a place called Wonderland.

This is where the story gets dark as theories have shown that Alice in Wonderland is about drug addiction.

The movie begins with Alice sitting outside one day and she is bored. This symbolizes the average child/teen who wants more out of life.

Just a side note here, this seems to be reoccurring with Disney movies. The theme that the main characters are usually not happy with their lives and wants more.

I mean is this not the reason Belle left home and lived with the beast, Ariel leaving home and many other Disney movies.

Anyways back to the story, as Alice is bored out of her mind. She sees a white rabbit and is immediately drawn to the rabbit. So much so that she chases the rabbit untile eventually, the rabbit jumps down a rabbit hole.

What is the symbol here?

The white rabbit symbolizes coacain3 which is to say that young people can’t help but be drawn to it even to the point of doing anything to get it.

Quite paradoxical for a white rabbit to jump into a very dark hole. The hole symbolizes how dark things can become once you’ve began taking the drugs.

Something that I found quite striking also is the fact that before she “slipped” into the hole. She looked down the hole and tried to gauge how deep it went. Despite not knowing how deep the hole went she took the leap.

This shows that the adverse effects of drugs on a person life has no ends and there is no safety net at the end of the tunnel. You’ll most likely crash with a Bang at the end of the tunnel which is what happened to Alice literally.

After Alice fell down the hole, she started experiencing certain hallucinations and there were some key symbols to look out for as she was falling.

The first one is the clock. Whilst Alice was falling down this rabbit hole of addiction, there was a clock and the hands on the clock were moving rapidly. This is a symbol for how quickly time gets away from an individual on drugs.

After she lands in a strange room, there are drinks and food labelled ‘Eat Me’ and ‘Drink Me’. Not surprisingly, our dear Alice consumes both substances. After which her perception of reality starts to change.

This is obviously the effects of drugs.

Throughout the movie there are also references of drug abuse. The caterpillar who seems to be sipping on water vapor is actually a metaphor for h3roine.

One might need to start taking a closer look at Disney Movies as all is not as it seems.

Moral of the story : Don’t do drugs kids !

Till next time,

Your friendly writer.

Okay, wow. Never thought about it that way. Kinda fits.

Also, most old Disney tales are actually quite dark. Ariel was supposed to get her legs chopped off and die (or something like that. Can’t remember how it goes).

And of course, Jefferson Airplane explicitly updated the tale to fit the LSD scene of the late 60s. Here they are at Woodstock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl89g2SwMh4
