There’s something about
the night that makes every
emotion seem heightened.
Anger doesn’t burn as
fierecly as it does at night.
Love doesn’t tug as passionately
as it does at night.
Fear’s hold doesn’t tighten as hard
as it does at night.
And sadness doen’t wash over you
as dreaary at it does at night.
It’s easy to be brave during the day
but you surely break at night.
With the sun down and the brightness gone
perhaps the need to reflect that
brightness with our forced smiles
too is gone.
Because even when you don’t
want to you, the urge to cry out overwhelms.
And who knows we might feel a
little joy from knowing the rest of the
world is asleep and no one would stumble in
and intrude with their fake pity.
