Breathe, Live & Smile

The bus theory is a fascinating theory that I was priviledged to stumble upon and would like to share with you in this short post.

What is the bus theory?

The theory goes thus;

‘Everytime you are seated at a bus station and you accidentally miss your bus, you don’t panic and run after the bus crying and all dishelved. ‘

Have you ever wondered why that is?

Let’s say a bus in your area comes by every 30 minutes and you’ve missed the first bus. Why do you just proceed to wait for the next bus to arrive rather than running, crying or chasing after the bus that you already missed?

Well that’s what the bus theory explains.

It’s because of  the 100% CERTAINTY that there will be another bus arriving in a few minutes. All you do in that moment is tell yourself to exercise a little bit of patience and wait for the next bust to come.

How can you apply the bus theory to life?

Let’s focus on the reason you don’t cry whilst chasing after the bus. It’s ecause you are confident that another bus will come.

Why don’t we treat life the same way?

When we miss an opportunity, a partner, a friend or even a job we tend to grovel, cry and chase after what is already gone rather than be patient and confident in knowing that another opportunity, partner, friend or even job will come.

Well you can say because it’s uncertain if that will happen but I put it to you that it is just as certan as it is uncertain. It’s all about your mindset.

Remember to the optimist, the glass is always half full and to the pessimist the glass is always half empty.

When an opportunity, idea, partner or friend walks away from our life rather than cry and plead with them to come back, remember to have a little patience and be confident in the next best thing.

The best things are always ahead of you and never behind you. What’s gone is gone rather look towards the future with certainity that it will provide you with just what you need.

Closing Remarks

The bus theory is such an insightful theory that we can apply to our daily living. You no longer need to cry over that loss rather focus on the future, on the next bus and be prepared for when it comes because it surely will.

But will you be ready?
