3 months prior, I wrote a guest post titled – 5 step strategy to handling anxiety as a university student.
The goal of this post was to help university/college students better handle anxiety on campus. It was going to be a short guide following a strategy I use (although I didn’t invent) that can be insanely helpful.
Writing the post was one thing but actually seeking a site that would post it was the hard bit.
The weeks following after I wrote the article were filled with researching and sending emails to various sites who post similar content.
I sent around 15 -20 emails and after a week, I got a response back from one of the sites. The lady I spoke with said she loved it and would post it on their site, however she was currently on vacation, this was like mid july, and would post it in the month of August.
August came and I reached out again to her and it was radio silent. I sent multiple emails and no response, I thought she was probably still on vacation so I gave it a rest.
Few days to the end of August, I reached out yet again just to be told the email couldn’t be found, I searched for her site which is quite prominent in the mental health niche and it was gone.
I was confused and a bit sad because not only was my guest post not going to be published but I couldn’t even contact her anymore.
September came around and I still had about 5 guest posts that I had written and overall sent over 50 emails combined from June up until August, I got a little over 9 responses but none of them was promising. Some required you to pay to have the content posted or it just wasn’t what they were looking for at the moment.
I got busy with other things and put reaching out to other sites on hold for the meantime. September 25th (yesterday), I suddenly remembered my guest posts and decided to research mental health websites and send out more emails.
So I drafted my pitch and tweaked it alongside the subject of the mail and sent out 10 emails for about 3 different guest post ideas.
I remember coming across Write me an anonymous letter and thinking, ‘This is new and different.’
The reason I thought about this is because on their website, you can write an anonymous letter to anyone which they will post on their site.
Instead of sending that sad email to your ex, you can write an anonymous letter and they’ll post it on their site.
You can express feelings however you choose, they’ll post it and what’s even better is that no one on the internet would know that you wrote the letter. Think of them like an online diary.
I scrolled through and read some letters that people had written. And I thought to myself, ‘Maybe I’ll write an anonymous letter to my future self in a couple of months.’
I sent them my pitch idea via email and I moved on to other tasks.
When I woke up this morning to get ready for work, I picked up my phone and the first thing I always check on my phone every morning is my email.
I got an email back from them that my guest post was not only ACCEPTED but it was already PUBLISHED on their site.

To me that’s the equivalent of waking up to a gift on my birthday. I did my little happy dance in the kitchen while preparing breakfast and couldn’t wait to write this post.
I want to say a big thank you to them. I’m indeed very grateful for being featured on your website.
It made me believe in myself more because despite knowing how insightful this particular post was when it had been rejected so many times, I was almost at the point of just uploading it to my personal site and maybe trying a different angle when writing.
However here I am almost 4 months after writing the initial draft and it’s finally been published.

Moral of the story:
Things never work out quite like you plan it to. Seeds take time to mature and grow so trust the process, your process.
Enjoy a wonderful day indeed, I hope this encourages you.
