Breathe, Live & Smile

Parental themes are common occurrences in Disney movies so today we will be ranking 5 of Disney Parents from Worst to best.

Parent Child relationship was important to Walt Disney. It is speculated that due to losing his mom, he created stories where his characters went through similar rates of either losing one or both of their parents or being separated from their parents. This happened in Cinderella, Tarzan, Jungle book, Snow White, Frozen, Moana, I could go on.

But let’s get back to the 5 worst to best Disney parents.

Starting At number 5 we have the evil queen from snow white. We can all agree that if there was an award for a bad parent it would go to her, and I know some are going to contest that snow white isn;t her child however she was the guardian in charge of snow white which is just the same if you ask me. Jealousy and rivalry over being the fairest in the kingdom pushed her to attempt to kill Snow white numerous times and without the slightest hint of remorse, when she accomplishes this she rushes to her mirror to confirm that she is now the fairest in the land. It doesn’t get darker than this.

At number 4 we have Lady Tremaine or as I like to call her ‘The black widow’. Cinderella went through it all living with this woman who was unfortunately her step mother. She swept, she washed, she cleaned, she cooked, she scrubbed and to think she was doing all this in her own house. Lady Tremaine did have reason to be so jealous of Cinderella who was no doubt more beautiful than her step daughters and well mannered too. It seems to me like Lady Tremaine thought death was too easy of a punishment to give Cinderella and rather ensured she made her life a living hell.

At number 3, we have Chief Powhatan from Pocahontas. It’s not easy to be the daughter of the chief. You have expectations to meet and your father is always off helping and leading the tribe that you get neglected in the process even if it isn’t intentional. This is why Pochantas relied on Grandmother Willow so much because her father wasn’t always there. However he did his best in raising her and in the end he listened to her which shows what a good father he was.

In second place, we have Gepetto. He might not be the biological father of pinocchio but his love for pinocchio was undeniable. He is bustling with joy when he sees that pinocchio has come to life and is just grateful for the opportunity of becoming a father. When his son goes missing, he searches far and wide for him. Thankfully, Geppetto’s wish is granted in the ending as pinocchio does become a real boy.

At number 1 and first place for obvious reasons we have Mufasa from Lion King. He is easily the most iconic and well crafted parental character in the entire Disney universe. While he does have a temper and that makes his son, simba a bit scared of him, he raised simba to be a powerful ruler of the pride lands. And in the ultimate display of love for his son, Mufasa sacrifices his life to save Simba and ends up falling into Scar’s trap. This was indeed a solemn moment for Disney fans but even in death, his wisdom never fails to guide Simba in his journey.

Closing Remarks

Raising a child is one of the hardest things to do out there because not only is there no blueprint to follow but you can use all the best practices in the book and still end up failing. This is for all the parents out there who are trying their best to raise their kids. Your effort isn’t overlooked as we know how it is to cater for another human being.
