I came across this incredible quote yesterday and I was indeed hooked immediately because it made me wonder all the times I’d swallowed poison thinking it was sweet.
All the times I had accepted less because I couldn’t speak up for myself.
All the times I had stayed because I was lonely
All the times I sought comfort in the wrong arms
All the times I seemed counsel amongst vipers
All the times I had poured my heart out only for it to be used against me
All the times their words cut deeper but I had no where else to go
All the times their actions told me they detested me but I foolishly believed the smiles on their face
All the times they disguised their envy and I laughed thinking it was a harmless joke
All the times they plotted and schemed.
Now I see that truly being lonely makes you vulnerable for when you’re lonely, you mistake niceness for care and common courtesy for friendship.
