Ever heard the saying, “It takes a village .. to do x or y” well where are the villagers? A tree cannot make a forest, in the same way one person cannot make a community.
Isn’t it ironic that we want to have a back brace when we support no one? You would love for others to help you but you never want to inconvenience yourself for the sake of others.

It’s chic and very empowering to have a village but only when it’s on your terms. You only show up when it means something for you.
But even when others realize this and withdraw their support, you spiral. How dare they not drop everything and come running because you cried wolf?
Not only is the price for community inconvenience, it’s the entry level requirements. If you’re only around when it’s good for you then you’re not a friend, you’re an opportunist.
What use is sacrifice if you’re not offering anything actually worthwhile?
