Starting easy we will be reviewing
Belle in beauty and the beast.

This was one of Disney’s animations that really confused me.
The dear Belle felt her everyday life was stifling. She wanted something more than the ordinary life she lived.
She yearned for the fantasy that she read about in books. And as a result, paid no heed to her surroundings.
However, this seemed to allure Gaston, the famous town hunter.
Like the viral TikTok sound that says;
‘You’re pretty and smart and you’re ignoring me so you’re obviously my type.’
This was how Gaston felt attracted to Belle. Although Gaston felt Belle was too indulged in reading and should pay attention to more important things like him.
Unfortunately, Belle didn’t share that fantasy.
She would never be held down by a man like Gaston.
However, we can’t speak for her taste in men because she later fell for a beast.
As the tale goes, she swaps places with her father who was imprisoned by the beast.
Fairytale magic and viola, Belle is in love with the beast.
Now, the question remains, Was she in love or just delusional?
Only Belle herself can answer such a question but my money is on delusional.
Below is a link to a post I wrote earlier on the Belle and the Beast story in case you want to get a broader picture of what happened in this fairytale.
If Some Disney Movies were Created in 2022. Pt. 4
It is speculated that Belle might have suffered from Stockholm Syndrome.
What is Stockholm syndrome?
This is a mental illness in which the prey falls for the predator. In other words, the victim falls in love with the captor.
This was speculated to have transpired between Monica Gaztambide and Denver in the Spanish series, Money Heist. Monica went on to join the robbers under the pseudonym, Stockholm.
It’s partially due to this syndrome that people stay in toxic relationships.
You see where I’m going with this.
Belle must have thought if I showed the beast enough care and love then maybe he might grow to love me but that could have just been her wishful thinking.
But I’d like to know what you think. Is it love or delusion? Or are the lines blurred?
Ariel in Little Mermaid
Beautiful Ariel daughter to king Triton and Queen Athena.
She had a whole family and living in the sea was freaking awesome!
But Airel wanted more. She had been warned to never go up to sea for fear that she might be captured and killed like her mother, the queen, was.
Ariel had 6 older sisters each representing the 7 seas including Ariel herself.
Attina represents the Bering Sea.
Alana, The Black Sea.
Adella, The Mediterranean.
Aquata, The Coral Sea.
Arista, The White Sea.
Andrina, The Caribbean Sea.
And lastly Ariel, The Red Sea.
At the beginning of the animation, we see that Ariel has this ship she frequents and it’s filled with so many ‘human’ things.

But all this isn’t enough. She wants more. From this brief visitation, we can see that Ariel is a hoarder which is a form of OCD.
What is OCD?
OCD is an acronym for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This is a mental illness in which an individual has certain patterns and traits that they feel to strictly adhere to and have the urge to repeat the pattern over and over.
There’s a type of OCD called hoarding obsessive-compulsive disorder which is what Ariel could potentially have suffered from.
What is Hoarding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?
This form of OCD is attributed to compulsive thoughts and behaviours centred on keeping possessions and having a difficult time giving them out.
Ariel’s fascination with life above the sea is said to be what fuels this compulsive behaviour.
What do you think?
Could this be true?
Last on the list we have brave Alice.
Alice in wonderland.
Little Alice fell down the hole because she was so fascinated by a white rabbit.

Once down the rabbit hole, she begins to experience different hallucinations.
The way the tale goes, she even sees talking caterpillars and a lot of other weird happenings.
I have a post on the dark drug theory related to Alice in Wonderland and you can check out that below.
Did you know that Alice in Wonderland had a dark drug theory?
However, this post goes in a different direction. Alice is said to be the poster child for Schizophrenia.
What is Schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a mental illness which involves the distortion of an individual’s perception of reality.
This leads to a faulty perception of the real world around you. And in relation to an indulgence in fantasy and delusions.
Could this be the reason for the things Alice saw down the rabbit hole or at least what she thought she saw?
Closing remarks
Disney always seems to have some darker undertone spread across all of its animations.
I would like to know your thoughts on whether there could be a connection between these mental illnesses and these 3 Disney princesses.
